The delicious sweet crunch of an Imperial Asian Pear is a distinct characteristic of this late summer fruit. These pears ripen in August-September, and are normally available through the first one to two months of Spring.
Characteristics of an Imperial Asian Pear
There are over 1,000 varieties of Imperial Asian Pears, which are popularly known as “apple pears” due to their resemblance to apples. Asian Pears are yellow-green to pale yellow with smooth small lenticels. As a result, their white flesh within is sweet, firm, crisp and juicy. Asian Pears are high in fiber and low in calories. Also, they are a good source of Potassium, Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Copper. Added bonus, this fruit is a delicious addition to salads like our Fall Asian Pear Salad.
What Customers Are Saying
Here’s what our customers are saying:
“The Fruit Co did an excellent job of packaging our pears and they all looked good, plus they arrived a day early. We were introduced to Asian Pears by our neighbors, we totally prefer these pears over any other variety. We love how crisp and sweet they are, the texture is the best, very refreshing too. Definitely a cross between a pear and an apple, we’re hooked on Asian Pears!”
“Purchased these Asian Pears for my grandma’s Christmas present last year and she loved it!”
