These super simple terra cotta DIY painted plant pots are a quick and easy way to infuse a little personality into your spring planting.
They are great to use around the house or to spruce up a back deck or front porch.
What you will need for this project:
– Terra Cotta Pots (any size)
– Paint
– Paint Brush
First, paint the pot completely with the base color. You will probably need to do two coats depending on the color you choose. Allow about 15 minutes between the two coats.
Helpful tip: if you plan to keep the pots outdoors, make sure to look for acrylic paint that is rated for outdoor use. This will help ensure the pots don’t peel or chip when exposed to the elements.
Allow the pots to dry completely, and then apply the second color you have chosen to the pot. I applied the second color from the base to the midway point of the pot. I just freehanded the painting to the midway point, but if you want a more precise look, use painters tape to create a clean, even line. You can also create geometric shapes with the painters tape, or use a stencil to add your own creative twist.
Add the plant of your choice, and you are done!
